Filmmaking for Beginners (From Idea to Execution)

Course Description

This workshop aims to provide participants with the fundamental skills of filmmaking, from the initial idea to the final execution. Participants will explore all stages of film production including idea development, writing, directing, shooting, sound, and editing. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have produced a short film, gaining a practical and comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process.

Learning Objectives

1. Develop an engaging film idea and turn it into a visual story.
2. Write a short screenplay that follows proper dramatic structure.
3. Understand basic directing techniques and how to manage a film crew.
4. Shoot practical scenes using a camera or smartphone professionally.
5. Perform basic editing operations to produce a final short film.

Target Audience

Beginners in filmmaking, media students, and art enthusiasts.

Skill level: Beginner. Recommended age: 16 years and above.

Lesson 1.1: How to generate a film idea (Brainstorming exercises)
Lesson 1.2: The difference between idea and story
Lesson 1.3: Elements of a good story (Character – Goal – Conflict – Resolution)
Activity: Write a one-line film idea (Logline)

Module 2: Writing the Short Screenplay
